Peter Baur runs since 2021 the consultancy CropPromotion covering application, bioavailability and formulation of agrochemicals, including natural and synthetic PGR, foliar fertilizers and biologicals. Until end of 2020 he headed the global Competence Center Crop Solutions, Clariant Frankfurt, Germany. There he worked with an international team of agronomists and chemists on novel adjuvants and formulants, formulation development, application and bioavailability profiling tests, and a versatile R&D phytotron. Before joining Clariant, he was 13 years with Bayer CropScience in Monheim and Frankfurt, working as Fellow in Formulation Technology, responsible for global optimization of bioavailability and delivery of agrochemicals for all pesticide indications and temperate and (sub)tropical crops.
He has more than 100 publications including co-authorship of the Weed Anatomy (Kraehmer and Baur, 2013) and holds about 100 patents on various aspects of agrochemicals and agronomy comprising actives, adjuvants, application, formulations, postharvest treatment, solvents. Current main interest is the identification of new approaches to overcome drought related problems in agriculture, with focus on foliar fertilizers and root growth management.
After his study of plant physiology at Technical University of Munich, he worked on the bioaccumulation potential of organic xenobiotica via gas and liquid phases and the mode of action of certain surfactants as part of his PhD, the latter sponsored by Shell Agro (Sittingbourne, UK). Thereafter, he moved to the Department of Horticulture, Hannover University where he habilitated for Ecophysiology and Fruit Science. He is external Professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Leibniz Univ. of Hannover and past President of the International Society of Adjuvants for Agrochemicals and organizing the 2010 symposium in Munich.
